A Bright and Rainy Day Scene

Welcome and Happy Good Friday to you!  It's Susie here today and I have the ever so cute Charm Street Cuties Rainy Day to show you.

I love this bright fushia pink card (from one of the A Few of My Favourite Things Kits) and thought that it would provide a great contrast for the Rainy Day stamp.  (It also proves that I am not completely addicted to using turquoise, or various shades of it!!)

I used promarkers in Cool Grey 1, 2 and 3 to create the background for my girl, just with random wavy-ish lines and used a blender pen to blend the lightest grey into the white card.
I then stamped Rainy Day onto the background and onto a post-it note.

The post-it note mask was cut and placed over the card, so that I could stamp the cloud and make it look as if it is behind the girl.  The cloud was also stamped onto another post-it note to use THAT as a mask too.

The cloud was cut out enough to mask the cloud for layering another cloud behind it.

The cloud mask was removed so that some more clouds could be added to the scene and lots of rain drops were also added.

Then the colouring was added, using my promarkers.  I did consider keeping the whole image monochrome, but my love of colour won through and some pink was added to go with the card.
I then decided that I would risk cutting around the clouds, in order to show off more of the fushia card........and removed the top cloud too as I liked the overall shape better without it.  I added some Stardust Stickles to the clouds, rain and puddles and strengthened the shading of the coat and wellies......and was finally happy with the result!  Loving this sentiment from the Rainy Day set too.

Have a wonderfully bright and, hopefully, not too rainy an Easter, folks.

"Be Amazing" 10 minute make.

Hello, it's Carol here today and no it's not an April Fool lol.  Today I am sharing one of my "10 Minute Make" Cards made using just two stamp sets and some Distress Inks.

I love Sarah's Doodle Doll Stamps and how well they all work together, I used the arty extras from the Art Girl Stamps and the sentiment from Be Amazing Girl Stamps. It actually took me longer to decide which colours of ink to use, but that isn't unusual for me lol.

I cut a piece of white stamping card to size and got all my pretties ready to get creative.

I stamped a line out with the circles from the stamp set, then got the splash and brushstroke stamp and stamped them out in different colours. I just love the new Limited Edition Distress Inks, don't you? I stamped on the "Be Amazing" Sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink as a contrast to the pastel colours.

I used some double sided tape to stick it down to some lemon coloured paper and used my Perfect Layers ruler to make a wee border round the card. I then popped that onto my card blank.

Ingredients
DST from Stix2
Distress Inks

I hope this shows that "10 Minute Makes" can be inky and fun! Thanks for stopping by today, remember to visit again soon to see what the other #TeamHurley girls are up to.

Blog Planning Fun

Hi All,

It is Nicole here to share a fun project I created to keep my blogging on track for scheduled posts!
I used the blog planner printable kit from Sarah Hurley that you can find for FREE here. This kit is so useful and you have seen some of the rest of the team using it in such creative ways. I have taken a bit of a different approach though as I work digitally a lot of the time so here is my take.

I started off using a sheet of wood grain paper from the Woodland Wonders in the Woods kit. I added the month and blog topic brainstorm onto this. My page is A4 so I can print a new one easily every month.

I then took some elements from the kit and embellished it a bit. I didn't embellish too much as I wanted to leave myself with a lot of space to write in notes for the brainstorming of ideas. I just wanted to add a little decoration though!

Here is a month roughly filled in as a sample of how it works. You can see I still have lots of space to add in more information about other projects. I tend to write rough outlines about my projects anyway so they will never be full essays on the page!

I created all of this in Photoshop, but you could use any other program, or ever just do it proper crafty style! I hope you enjoyed this idea on how to use the free Sarah Hurley printables. If you decide to use them let us know and show us how you are using them!

Watercolor play

Happy Saturday! Its Ria here today.

Watercolor has been on trend for a while in card making. Its only lately however that I've been playing with watercolor and this card is one of them.

Today's card is simply a watercolor play using Sarah's Charm Street Cuties stamp.

Here's a quick look of the supplies I used, stamps and watercolor mainly are used.

First off is to stamp the main image in a watercolor paper.

I then placed the stamped paper into a wooden board and adhere them temporarily with washi tapes. This will hold the paper well and support the curling of paper while its all wet during the process.

Then I started coloring the face, I diluted the brown color with lots of water to have this very light brown color for the skin

I then moved to color the hair with yellow, red and brown.

The clothes and background were the last to color.

While my watercolor piece is drying, I later move to stamp my sentiment using the Alpha stamp sets. One good thing about these alpha set is you can customized the sentiment as you wish.

I colored the outlined stamped sentiment using the block stamp, this time coloring it off-set

And here it is after coloring using the block stamps

I then went back to add some hearts in the colored image, I find the lower left area to miss something so I added these two hearts using second generation stamping using distress inks.

And the final card detail..

and the full card, clean and simple.

That's it for today and happy weekend everyone!

Scraps and Doodles

Good morning, everyone, it's Susie here and I have a collection of scraps and doodle stamps to show you.  Are you sitting comfortably?  Then we shall begin!!

I had a collection of scraps from Sarah's Dotty Papers and Watercolour Love collections and LOVE the combination of turquoise and grey together.  3 strips of the paper were mounted onto silver card to make a panel for my card.

Then, I used the triangle stencil, a grey promarker and a silver pen to add a background panel directly to the right hand side of my card blank.  After removing the stencil, I added some definition to the triangles with a thin black pen.

I stamped one of the Doodle Home house stamps and a tree in black ink onto scrap white card and cut them out - lovely easy shapes for cutting out.  They were then mounted onto a square of Watercolour Love paper (which reflected the triangles on the background) and silver card:

I added a turquoise heart and some Stardust Stickles as roof tile detail to the house.

After the scrap and stamped panels were stuck to the card, I stamped the sentiment and added further definition to the letters with my super thin pen.  A final round of Stardust Stickles was added to the edges of the stamped panel and one edge of each triangle in the background.

Et voilà, the card is complete and lots of stamping, scrappy and stencil fun has been had!!!

Organiser Box.

Hello, it's Carol here today and I am going to share something I made using a range of Sarah's products.

As some of you have seen, I am in the process of jazzing up the inside of my boring old brown leather Filofax and thought it would be great if I had a wee weekly organiser on my desk so I could easily see what was on that week.  I decided to have a browse of the files available from Sarah's Silhouette Store and see what I could come up with. This project has LOTS of different files, so I will link them all at the end, go and grab a cuppa and a biccie and get comfy lol.

I had a couple of spare plastic storage boxes from Ikea and decided that one of these would be perfect for what I had in mind. I used the Days Of The Week Tabbed Journaling Cards as my base, as these were a perfect size for the box, and added some extras as I went. I made some cute Number Paperclips so I could highlight days I needed to plan ahead for. I made some Love Heart Paperclips,  Star Paperclips and Moustache Paperclips. I have some glassline envelopes from previous kits from Sarah so popped all my spare paperclips in there.

We all have calls that we need to make and forget about, so I made a Mobile Phone card so I can pop it in to whichever day I need to make my calls.  I had lots of speech bubbles leftover from a LO I made from the Speech Bubble Background and glued them onto pieces of card to be used for anything from ideas to reminders.

I used a few different stamps sets to add some details to the cards, and of course some pretty Washi Tape. Here are a few pictures to illustrate my finished make.

Ingredients
Papers & Stamps from A Few Of My Favourite Things Kits
Adhesives from Stix2

Thanks for sticking with the post to the end, I hope you like the organiser box and it is something you would try. If you do, please comment below or send us a picture as we would love to see your makes.

Remember and pop by again soon and see what my talented teamies come up with.
