Background stamping

Hello there! Its Ria here today.

For today's card project, I did a stamped background using the Special Edition stamp - Garden Fairy by Clare.

I also used the small flamingo stamp from Sarah Hurley. Its part of the kit from A Few of my Favourite Things kit but you can definitely use whatever stamp that you may have.

Just the basic stamping for the background, here I started with the red.

I kept three color ink pads to alter the colors and stamped the butterfly and flowers alternatively. I also used the swirl shape to fill some gaps in between spaces.

I later die cut a tag shaped cardstock to put  my sentiment and add some banners.
For additional texture, I also put some sequins randomly and of course a red satin  ribbon to pop some more color.

and the finish card..

Until next time!. Have a great weekend!

Background stamping fun

Happy Thursday!

Its Ria here to share a fun one-color background stamping.

First up, I stamped the 3 different sized flowers that is part of the Zen Doodle Nature stamp set. I used only one light color ink over white cardstock.

For the small open white spaces, I used the small heart and note stamps to fill the gaps. That will make the design more complete :)

In my card base, I added green strips in both sides to base the stamped design.

I then die cut small shaped dies to frame the two birds that I fussy cut from Sarah's A Few of my Favorite Things kit.

I also stamped the small flowers with light pink ink to complement the pink bird. These flowers will be used as my embellishments later in the final card.

I assembled the pieces and here's the details of the final card. I white embossed the birthday sentiment using vellum.

and the full card..

I hope you try the one color stamping, I had fun doing this card.

Until then!

Shaker card

Happy Saturday!

Its Ria here today.

Shaker cards seems to be on-trend now and I'm sharing today my take in doing one. My first attempt to make one can be found here.

My process:

  • I die cut my paper with the rectangle shape, then a square die cut for my window.
  • I then stamped the flamingos and leaves that will go inside the window including the hill shaped die cut. For the 2 flamingos? I fussy cut them after stamping, then adhere them direct to the background base paper
  • I put the clear acetate in the window, then flip them over to put the beads in there
  • I put the dimensional foam, securing all the 4 sides to keep the beads from falling. Then adhere the stamped background to seal the window
  • I added the birthday sentiment and gem stones for some more embellishment

I got the beads from my local store but you can also use sequins as you wish.

Great way to add more fun to a birthday card

And the full card

Until then! Enjoy the rest of the weekend :)

Sunday, 16 November 2014

Happy Sunday everyone! It's Ria here today.

Christmas is just few weeks away and I have started creating my holiday cards to be sent out to family and friends.
I'm looking at my stash and I was thinking of using the stamps and papers that I already own to use in my Christmas cards. There will be other ways that you can use stamps other than what they are by changing the colors and adding other elements in the project.

Here I used the Doodle Doll Wish Upon a Star stamp set and colored her with Christmas colors, red and green. The other elements you see such as the stars and flag banner are from non-traditional paper packs that I already have from Sarah.

I used a die cut snowflakes to cut the papers also from Sarah and added some texture in my card base by using an embossing folder.

I wanted to mimic an angel for this doll so I also embossed an vellum that served as her wings.

This is a quick holiday card and I think the same can be also replicated in a Project life page isn't it?

Here's the full card..

A closer look at the details..

Until next time!

Challenge 60 *Sponsored by Handy Hippo* Die Cuts

This week we are lucky enough to be sponsored by Handy Hippo! Handy Hippo is a friendly online craft supplies shop with a great range of rubber stamps and other card making goodies - including plenty of  dies and embossing folders. Their website has lots of information on crafting techniques, plus a great selection of free card project ideas to suit crafters of all abilities so please pop over and visit them!

They chose a theme of 'Die Cuts' this week and have given us a Tim Holtz 'Easter Elements' Sizzix Die as a prize! You can see all of their Sizzix dies on on their website here

and here is all the Design Team inspiration for you!

For my card I've used papers and a couple of the fab Vintage Alice images from Sarah's 'Wonderland' cd, I've added a large flower die cut using tattered florals and coloured with distress inks.
I cut an Alterations heart from the red spotty paper in the Valentines digi kit by Sarah Hurley.  I also used an Alterations Tattered Banners die and used some pink spotty paper from the Valentines digi kit to make a border along the bottom.
 Elaine
I used Wonderland CD for image and backing paper, with Tim Holtz Tattered florals dies, Spellbinders butterflies, Memory box butterfly border die, Gold ribbon, I cut flowers from the backing papers and scrunched them then inked them with Tim Holtz inks and used an old button as their centres to match the rest of my project.
Claireliz
I used the Tattered Florals & Caged Bird die to create this canvas along with Sarah's Teal, Eclipse, Candyfloss pink, Sunshine Yellow & Sepia ink sprays I've also used quite a lot of Stickles. The quote I've used is called Don't Give Up (Author Unknown)
Clare
I layered some TH tattered florals die cut flowers and added a red metal brad in the centre. The flowers and background paper were then stamped using TH burlap distress ink pad and a music background stamp. I also used scalloped square nesties and circle die cuts. I wanted to keep it simple so I only added a sparkly ribbon.

Jess
I cut out a Sizzix Flourish from a scrap piece of card and used the negative part as a stencil to Versamark and emboss a pattern around one of the new Easter Kit Papers.  Layered up with some Nesties using another Easter Kit Paper and the Butterfly Digi.

Lisa
I've used a paper from Sarah's Vintage Halloween Digi Set and teamed it with some Tattered Floral Diecuts and a Wonky Scallop Border Diecut.

I made a 8x8 Scrapbook layout using the Vintage Halloween Digi Papers, some ribbon from my stash and added my wee tattered floral diecut that I scrunched up, inked and added a wee pearl before sticking to my wee layout

I used Sarah's Poppy Red Mist and the Tattered Floral Die Cuts. I used a die cut as a mask (which i covered up with alphas) and then layeres that die cut flower as an embellishment. I used Wonderland Paper strips and coated them in PVa to give the effect of washi tape. There is a kraft flower die cut under the teal rose.
I used a Tattered Floral Die-Cut from craft paper under the Cupid embellishment. The papers and embellishments are from my Valentine digi kit.
We look forward to seeing your projects - you have until midnight on 26th February to enter - just click below to submit your link!
