Documented 365 - NEVER TOO LATE

Hi it's Clare here today and my post proves that it's never too late to start Project Documented 365.

Ideally I should be showing you an up to date page for 2014 but it's just never happened. In fact I hadn't even started it, still finishing off last year and we are almost into the month of May eeeeeeeek! So I hid in my craftroom which was perfect as I couldn't see the mountain of washing that was awaiting lol

I hadn't a colour scheme in mind, I just sifted through my stash and when I saw the blue and white journal card it seemed perfect. I pulled together this to get me started.

The only addition here is the text 'JANUARY' from Sarah's stamp set which proves that you can keep you layouts simple and perfect for when we are playing catch up!

******

A little tip, you don't always have to use photographs and you can still create fab layouts.

Here I just used text and die cuts.

My ticket from the Aladdin pantomine

Don't be tempted to throw away those off cuts.

Now I have arrows!

Here are a few close ups

Finally my finished layout.

Paper Piecing with Clare

Hi and a big welcome to the Sarah Hurley 365 Blog.

Whether you are a paper piecing addict or some who hasn't never tried it and would like to Sarah has the perfect range., her girl stamps. I am showcasing the DREAM A LITTLE DREAM  and BE AMAZING (eyes only)stamp set...really love this!

So first of all I had a rummage through my scrap paper box and choose the following. I have to confess I am rather drawn to the bright colours and patterns on these ones. They have all came from various 'A FEW OF MT FAVOURITE THINGS' kits.

I stamped the girl image onto white card

The sentiment was also stamped onto white card the matted and layered onto patterned paper

I then stamped the girl again, this time onto patterned paper and I also stamped one of the hats from the set. Both were then cut out and 3D foam squares were popped onto the back for dimension.

I then made some embellishments, some were cut by hand, others were by punch or a created using die and my bigshot.

I didn't want any white showing underneath the paper piece so I decided to colour it in. I used a turquoise PROMARKER which was just perfect. I also coloured her shoes in the same colour. The hair was coloured again using PROMARKERS (cinnamon, caramel & sandstone). Using light fawn FLEXI MARKER I coloured in her skin.

It was now time to add the paper piece.

I spent a little time moving all the bits and pieces around the paper and here is the final result.

Bold Butterflies

Morning All. It's Lisa here today and I thought I would share a bit more detail on my project I created for this months Challenge theme, which is Stitching. The challenge is open until midnight on Sunday so why not have a crafty weekend and show us what you create.

I have been having a little play with the A Few of My Favourite Things Kit again. This bold paper was from January's kit and I've hand stitched the edge as my sewing machine broke just before I made this. Oh well, my hand stitching is neater than my machine stitching anyway! Here is my card...

I've added a shimmer to the patterned paper with a Wink of Stella pen and stamped butterflies to each spot. My embellishments were made with UTEE and a Melt Pot.

The large butterflies have been stamped off the edge of the central panel. I used the Wink of Stella Pen to drag the ink and give them a watercolour look.

Here's what I used:

  • 'Denim' Adirondack Ink pad
  • White Square Card Blank
  • UTEE Embellishments (Heart and Enamel Dots)
  • Wink of Stella Clear Brush Pen, Embroidery Thread and Needle and a round corner punch

Thanks for stopping by

A little 'Tweet' love.

I've just brought you a fun card which features my Tweet Tweet stamp set from the Special Editions range.

The background is made using the woodgrain background stamp pulled from a geli plate which gave a subtle patterned backdrop for the birdhouses behind the fence.

I know it's a lot of fussy cutting out but it was worth the effort and I enjoy it.

Using stamps to get a mirror image

Hi It's Tania here with my second spotlight of the month.
Today I will use stamps from the March A few of my Favourite things kit of the month and show you how to get a reverse image from one stamp
Here is my finished card where I have 2 little birds on a hand drawn branch. For the sentiments I have used Sarah's Sentiment stamps

I first inked my stamp with distress ink (This does not dry as quick as other inks) and
stamped it onto a ink blending mat.

Then you transfer the image onto your card by putting the card over the image and pressing hard.
If necessary you can go over the image to make it look crisper,
I then stamped my normal image and you then have 2 birds.
I then drew a branch and tree adding leaves using a leaf stamp from this months stamp kit. I coloured the tree in caramel and the leaves in leaf green and the tree in meadow green Promarkers.
I have made the card for my husband for our Anniversary in July.
Thank you for calling by

Art Journaling with the Doodle Dolls

Hello Claireliz here.

Happy Easter, I wish you many chocolate eggs!

I've been having a play in my art journal with Sarah's Doodle Doll stamps, One of the sayings from Sarah's Princess Doodle Doll stamp set has kind of stuck with me...

"Always wear your invisible crown"

Personally I think that is a great bit of advice, no matter where you are or what you are doing, always wear your invisible crown, this was my starting point for this journal page....

I sprayed the background with aqua spray ink, whilst that was drying I stamped the six Doodle Dolls - Be Amazing, Princess, Wish Upon A Star, Dream a Little Dream, Art Girl and last but not least Zombie Girl (because we all have days when we don't feel our best), Whilst the ink was drying on the dolls I returned to the journal page, I used Sarah's Chevron Stencil & some Faded Jeans Distress Ink to create the chevrons in opposite corners, then I stamped around the edges of the page using the stamps from the Doodle Doll sets & different coloured inks.
I coloured all of the Doodle Dolls with Promakers, glued them to the page & drew around them with a black pen.
I stamped the phrase "Always wear your invisible crown" using Sarah's Alpha Block stamp set & I stamped the word "invisible" in blue to make it a bit more invisible.

I wanted to give each Doodle Doll an invisible crown so I used the crown stamp from the Princess Doodle Doll stamp & stamped it onto each Doodle Dolls head, then instead of colouring them in I used clear Stickles to create the look of an invisible crown...

Finally I used some hot pink polka dot paper from one of Sarah's AFOMFT kits, I stamped stars onto the paper, cut them out & attached them to the page.

That's all from me for today, I hope you all have a lovely time & enjoy the chocolate, don't forget to always wear your invisible crown.

Take care & hope to see you soon.

C xx

It's almost Easter.

Hi, it's Carol here this Good Friday and I thought I would make something to reflect the time of year it is.

I was lucky enough to be treated to a Cameo electronic cutting machine a few months ago and I still have the new machine "fear" and realised I really had to use it rather than just download lots of Sarah's yummy files.

I thought I would make a card using one of Sarah's new designs and chose the  Easter Page Mat. When you open in onto your "Drawing Area" it opens as a 12"x12", but that is easily sized down and I will try and explain how I did that.

I wanted to use a 6"x6" card, so decided to make the cut out 5.5", to do this I selected the whole image, clicked on the Scale tool, typed in 5.5" and ticked the lock aspect option.  It resized it perfectly to leave me with this.

I was feeling confident, so decided I wanted to layer the cut out, and knew I could do it easily using the Offset tool.  I wanted it to just have a nice frame, so chose 0.1" as my Internal Offset. The result was this;

You may be wondering why I am working on the right hand side of the page...this next step will explain that. I clicked on the internal image, and dragged it over to the left of the page. That way I could do the two cuts on one pass through, and use two separate colours of card;

I sent them to the Cameo to cut, then went about picking out matching backing paper and some sparkly bits. Et voila, here is the finished card...taaa daaaah!!

Ingredients

I hope this shows that once you overcome the new machine fear, you can have lots of fun making pretty things.

Remember there is still time to enter our challenge, the theme is Stitching - Real or Faux.

Have a great Bank Holiday Weekend, and a lovely Easter, Carol xx

Card and bookmark

Hi everyone!

It's Sharon here with a bit more of my favourite paper of the moment. I'm sure you've all had those moments when you see a piece of paper for the first time and just want to sit and stroke it!

This happened when I opened this month's kit. I made this card for the challenge and wanted to make a little gift to send along with it when I post it because I really like matching stationery.

I didn't have a lot of time(unfortunately this is getting too common these days) so didn't get it done in time for the challenge but I wanted to let the paper speak for itself!

I decided to make a bookmark so cut an oblong piece and laminated it. Then I crocheted some more flowers and hung them from the bottom.

I just love the colours in this paper and can't wait to send it on its way(if I can bear to part with it!)

In Stitches with a Voodoo Doll stamp.

Hi, it's Carol here today, and I am going to share my DT creation for this months  "Stitching - Real or Faux" Challenge.

I made a "Spell Book" using pretties from this month's AFOMFT Printable Documented 365 kit , the adorable Voodoo Doll Thinking of You Stamp and Block Alpha Stamps .

I printed out the "Doodles" card from the kit and coloured it in using Promarkers and Flexmarkers. I chose warm "dark" colours rather than bright ones, as I felt it went better with a Spell Book. I also printed out the Skull & Crossbones & the Yellow Skull & Crossbones card, to layer up and pop onto the doodle page. I stamped Spells onto the yellow card. I stamped the Voodoo Doll onto white card and coloured him in, added some faux stitching and popped him onto foam padding for some dimension. I layered the Doodle sheet onto a piece of navy card, and added some white faux stitches using a chalk pen. I am naughty, as I keep forgetting to take pictures as I go. I will do this next time, promise!

Ingredients

I hope this has inspired you to try something different, and why not pop over and join our "Stitching - Real or Faux" challenge for a chance to win some great prizes. Bye for now, thanks for popping by.

Today is the day.....to try something new!

Hello, its Claire with you today and I am sharing a card that shows off a couple of techniques, both of which are new to me.  I am a bit of a newcomer to 'messy' crafting as I call it, but many of  you I know aren't, and I really enjoyed playing and creating this for you. I pulled out my spray mists, stencils , and some textured paint/paste.

I don't know about you, but with the various deliveries we have to home we have a fair few boxes coming into the house, all of which are scrutinized (by me) as to whether they are good enough to be re-used before they head to the recycling bin. One particular box (in the photo below) caught my eye, and was stored away for another use in my craft room, and here I have found its new purpose - it is my new 'spray mist studio'

I sprayed in a lovely yellow a small mdf tag with a couple of layers for a good coverage.

I then took Sarah's chevron stencil, a palette knife and covered the tag with the textured paste. You may have seen Sarah demonstrate this on one of her Create & Craft shows. I was chatting with her about it after the show and she described it as the texture of peanut butter (yum....my all time favourite snack), so hopefully that will give you some idea as to how it handles.

I removed the stencil (possibly a little early as a section of the paste pulled away), and allowed it to dry while carried on with the ext element of the card. As the paste dried the richness of the green/gold colour and the dense sparkle within it intensified.

PROMARKERS: Clothes: apple cider/moss/twilight sky/mustard/ warm grey
Hair: cocoa/burnt sienna/walnut
Skin: putty/tan/coral

While the tag was drying I stamped and coloured one of Sarah's doodle dolls (from the Authentic Boy stamp set found HERE) onto some kraft craft. Now this was also a new technique to me also, and I was so impressed at how easy the colours blended onto this new card (designed specially for promarker work), I will definatly be using this much more and experimenting with other colours. To add a little texture to the boys jeans I found some textured material, covered a small section with the promarker blender ink, and pressed into the blue ink of the image, this has the effect of bleaching some colour, perfect for a denim look. It is a technique I remember Sarah demonstrating (link HERE to remind yourself of Sarahs card )

To make the starry background I went back to my sprays, and this time used Sarah's starry stencil, before stamping and adding the dried tag and image of the boy. To finish I embellished with some documented 365 stamps from various monthly kits Sarah sends out.

I thought that by leaving the date blank, it would be fun to use it's as a birthday card, and fill in when you know who you will be sending it to, it lovely to be able to send a personalised card.

I hope you have enjoyed what I have created, thanks for stopping by and see you again soon.

All the fun of the fair

Hi it's Tania here with my spotlight, spot. Today I will show you how I created my challenge card.
For my card I have used  the stamp set Special Edition Fun of the Fair by Jaine Drake, then I paper pieced the layers of the merry-go-round and the bunting.

I only decided that I would spotlight this card after it was finished so I had to make another.

1. First plan out your card.

  2. pick assorted scrap paper and card.

  3. Stamp out your images

4. Fussy cut your images out

 5. Start to build up your image

 6. Adding the paper pieces, layer by layer.

7. Until you main picture is complete. I have used PVA glue which dries clear.

 8. I then used 3d foam to mount my flags on.

9. then the card is complete

. For my challenge card I added faux stitches and added ice grey 1 to add shadow.

Thanks so much for visiting
hope this helps
