It's Christmas Eve!

Wow, what a super quick month December has been and super busy for all of us too! Today it's me,Carol, sharing a Christmas make with you all! Rather apt with my name don't you think?

I made this PL Lay Out using the idea of the "12 Days of Christmas", as my PL Page Protector had 12 pockets.  I won't go into full details of everything I did as I would be here until next Christmas lol.

Unusually for me I actually wrote/drew out a wee plan as I knew I was going to be putting a lot of different things in this LO.

Not a very comprehensive plan, but enough to get me started!

As you can see there is rather a lot of different techniques used from heat embossing to Cameo cut outs, die cutting and dry embossing.

All of the papers are from last years December kit, and the stamps are all available here including the adorable Christmas Carol Doodle Doll Stamp Set. All of the Silhouette files I used are available from Sarah's Silhouette Store, the journaling cards are a must have item for us Project Lifers.

Real Life Daily.

Hello there, I'm bringing you my once a month look at my Project Life pages and this time I'm up to week 31. Exciting for two reasons, one because it's the start of the summer documenting and two because I've got a brand new stamp set out in the shop which is especially designed to go with PL or Documented pages. It's called Real Life Daily and is packed with the sort of things I'm always putting on my pages. It actually features some of my own handwriting which is quite radical for me as I'm only just learning to love it.

Here's my layout using the stamp designs. I've used two different paper designs which I've cut into cards for this layout.

My title card uses the banner layered over papers and holds my title letters. The wood grain washi tape worked brilliantly I think on this particular paper so I've used it throughout.

The hello just fitted into this bubble from a previous monthly kit and the photo was just asking for the selfie next to it!

I thought I'd use some of the washi tape again under the real life words. It looks a bit like a piece of driftwood.

The bullet points are the way I quite often document the weekly goings on.

Instead of adding a cross into the little check boxes, I added a mini sticky gem.

Project Life week 28

I had some free time this week to do a bit of catching up on my PL pages. I have the whole of the summer to do before I get too far behind

Here's week 28 all finished and for this page I've taken a whole sheet of 12 x 12 and cut it into 4 x 6 cards. The only card not cut from a sheet is the title card taken from one of the last kits from the start of the summer. I've mixed things up a bit with offcuts and a few stamps plus one or two journaling cards from previous kits. I've tried to keep to certain colours as one of my "things" is for a page to be fairly uniform and not to messy.

Something totally new for me is to have a go at sewing on a journaling card and this template makes it super easy.

Hopefully this weekend I'll have some time to catch up a bit more.

My Favourite Things Creation.

Hello, it's Carol today and I am going to share my creation for this months Favourite Things Challenge. As usual I was indecisive about what to make, so rather than just use some of my favourite stash I opted to put my favourite things into my PL layout.

I am VERY new to PL and thought  a monthly layout would be better for me, rather than trying to keep up with weekly, stressing myself out and ending up not enjoying it. So here is Februarys Layout in great detail. 

This is a 4x6 card, with a cropped 4x3 journaling card, it has brands and a resin heart and I used love heart hearts, all of which came from AFOMFT kits. The month stamp is from the Today Stamp Set.

This is a 4x6 card, with a couple of wee layered pictures, and a sprinkling of pretty sequins and a small journaling card in the corner.

This is a 3x4 journaling card with a teal heart on it. I got the Love Journaling Card by Sarah, from the Silhouette Online Store, and cut it out on my Cameo and layered it onto the heart. I just love how they fit together. 

This is a 3x4 card with a smaller one layered on top. Sometimes it is nice just to leave things simple.

This is a 3x4 card with a picture of my hubby and great niece, I have layered it up and added some lovely brads from the AFOMFT kits.

This is a 3x4 card with my naughty cat Aggie eyeing up my Tunnocks Teacake!! The stamp is from the Today Stamp Set.

This is a 4x6 card with an adorable wee picture of my great niece and her super cute "crinkly" nose she gets when she is giggling! The gorgeous flourish in the corner is the Doodle Heart Corner Flourish by Sarah in her Silhouette Store.

I love this 4x6 card with Aggie making noise!

 And here is the completed layout. I like to think that each card tells a wee story, and it really does encapsulate my "Favourite Things"

In the details, my Project Life.

As soon as I received my kit package for April I knew instantly I'd use it for a Project Life layout. I kept everything together in the plastic bag until I had my photo's ready and thought I'd share with you the process as I created my weekly spread.

This is the kit and boy was it a bumper kit this time. As well as the full sized papers and journaling cards there was a sticky backed cork sheet, photo corners and a clock face. 

There were two 4 x 6 cards so I cut another two from one of the 12 x 12 sheets and a few other 4 x 3 cards from another sheet. I rounded all my corners as I prefer that look, then arranged them how I wanted them in the layout.

I cut out the embellishments from the Snip and Stick sheet, well die cut them actually, and cut the letters and some other embellishments from the cork sheet. The dies I used for the speech bubble and lady were wafer thin but still cut through the cork sheet without a problem
.

To go with my title I really wanted a banner and had a piece of grey card to hand which matched perfectly. I have a really neat chalk board writing pen which, when used on card or paper doesn't rub off and gives a fabulous chalky finished look. I used it to draw a banner to cut out and use on my first card.

This is how my title card ended up. With the banner, the die cut letters and some stars and the 'this week' taken from a previous kit. I always add the date on the title card too simply with an office date stamp.

On this card the cloud theme fitted perfectly with what I wanted to document which was the unusual sky and rainbow during the evening.  I layered my card and embellishments from the Snip and Stick sheet on top of one another using foam pads and the clock with some glossy accents to hold it in place slipped in perfectly.  I usually type my journaling on an old typewriter as I hate handwriting anything.

 In the next few photo's you'll see that despite what I said about handwriting, I have used it as titles on the cards. Well, I'll tell you a secret. If you use a paint brush or wide pen and write a word or phrase on card, then cut it out, it'll take on a whole different look. This is how I've added my words. It's a fiddly process to cut around all of a word but it's so worth it when you do and will make any handwriting look cool.

The little flowers from the Snip and Stick card were given a coat of glossy accents to make them look shiny and dimensional but it's hard to see in the photo. I've used the photo corners and more typed journaling too.

Project Life catch up.

Hi there, it seems Spring has sprung and with it the garden is shouting to me, so at the moment my time is spent between that and my basement studio.

I've brought you some more of my Project Life pages today, weeks 11 and 12 and as well as the kit club cards I'll show you how I use up my off cuts too.

  
I seem to have collected loads of bits of patterned paper from off cuts which are just too good to throw out, but what to do with them? Well, I decided to go through them all and create journaling cards and die cuts for my PL pages.

The first thing I did was cut all the larger pieces into either 3 x 4 or 4 x 6 sizes to fit the pockets, then I rounded all the corners (just because I prefer that finish).

With the smaller bits I die cut arrows, flags, frames etc and even getting down to the mini pieces, I punched hearts and butterflies from them.

 I managed to find a set of drawer tidy boxes which fit nicely into this cardboard box to keep all my bits in.

When putting my pages together I had everything on hand and ready to go.

I also experimented with adding my own handwriting with paint and a brush this time and I really like that look. Normally I hate my writing but the brush gives it a whole different look.

Sharing a project life page.

I thought for my post today I'd share a page of my project life album not simply because I can brag about being caught up but because I absolutely love to use my monthly kit club journaling cards in my pockets.
This week 9 layout was created using mainly the February kit although other bits and paper scraps were used to decorate some of the cards.

The chipboard Today embellishment was from an earlier kit.

The only things I added to the page were the alphabet stickers and journaling added with my manual typewriter.

I round all my corners off with a punch as I prefer that look. 

I cut my title with a Sizzix die cut from some paper scraps.

Next time I'll share a layout which co-ordinates with this pl page.
