Neon Zendoodle Card.

Hello, and Happy St Davids Day! Who can believe it is the 1st of March already? It's Carol here today sharing a card that is a little bit different from my usual makes.

I love Sarah's Zendoodle range for the Silhouette and was delighted when the range of stamps was released, even more so with the set of Zendoodle Borders & Bits Stamps. They are great for making your own backgrounds as they have lots of different sized circles, hexagons and 2 borders.  I recently visited my local craft shop and totally fell in love with neon embossing powders...who wouldn't? and knew I had to use the two together!

I actually got so excited making it, I forgot to take my usual step by step pictures so will do a few wee bullet points.

1. Cut a piece of black card to fit onto a C6 card and wipe it with an anti-static bag.

2.  Ink up the Zendoodle Circles with Perfect Medium Ink then sprinkle over your embossing powder, I did each colour separately.

3.  On a separate piece of black card make some extra neon circles to cut out and pop onto 3d foam to give your card some dimension.

4. Use the "Woohoo" from the Everyday Saying Stamps and ink up with the Perfect Medium and sprinkle with embossing powder. I made a custom mix from all 4 colours.

5.  Stick your black layer onto your card, punch out your sentiments and there you have it! A neon zendoodle card!

Silhouette Scrapbook Page.

Hello, it's Carol with you today and I am going to share a scrapbook page I made using my Cameo, stamps and a stencil. (As if me scrapbooking wasn't enough of a shock, I tackled stenciling too eek!)

As some of you know, a few of us Team Hurley girls went to the NEC in Birmingham to meet up with Sarah to discuss a lot of exciting new things happening in the very near future...watch this space! We also popped over to the Stitches Show and saw lots of luscious new pretties that are due to hit the shops soon, so start saving lol. One of my favourites were the new Shinhan Touch Pens, and I can't wait to get my grubby wee mitts on some of those, anyway I digress sorry!

One of Sarah's lovely friends Diane took this amazing picture of all of us, and I just had to do a LO with it.

I decided to use my Cameo as Sarah has amazing files in the Silhouette Store that are just perfect for scrapbooking.

Here's how I made my LO.

1  I used the Square Page Mat from the Silhouette Store and cut it out full size on a sheet of DCWV paper.

2 I picked the Team Hurley Corporate Colour of mint green for the base for the mat, and decided to use one of Sarah's Stencils to make my own background. I used my favourite Distress Ink combo of Peacock Feathers and Picked Raspberry.

3 Being a stencil novice, I opted to use Scotch tape(washi would do too) and taped the edges of the stencil to my craft mat, and taped some scrap paper to the edges that were on the base layer.

4  Once I had moved my stencil around the base and covered it in pretty stars I popped my cut out Square Page Mat onto the base.

5 I love using arrows in my LO's and had to use the Hand Drawn Arrow Doodles on my page. I ungrouped the set, deleted the ones I didn't want to use and then resized the arrows using the Scale tool. And extra stars of course and the Doodle Stars are perfect for this. I separated them onto separate sides so I could make two different colours of arrows and stars.

Cloudy Day.

Hi, it's Carol here today! Hope everyone is well and looking forward to the new week ahead of them. Exciting times for some of us #TeamHurley girls as we are all heading to Birmingham at the weekend for a meet up...totally hyper in this household...anyway I digress.

Today I am going to share a  card I made using the stunning new Large Tiger Butterfly stamp,  Doodle Home Stamps and Sentiment Stamps. I even got out the Distress Inks and got inky!

1 Stamp the gorgeous butterfly using embossing ink, cover with clear powder and heat. Take a piece of 5 3/4" square card and stamp with the 3 different clouds from the Doodle Home set, cover with embossing powder and heat.

2 Look out the colours of Distress Inks you would like to use and get inky!

3 Fussy cut the butterfly, add to the card using 3d foam. Stamp a sentiment onto some card, punch it out then distress the edges. I popped some wee sparkly gems on the antennae of the butterfly and the sentiment.

Documented December - Day Twenty Five - The Big Day - Carol

Good afternoon from Glasgow, and a very Merry Christmas to you and yours.

I made this card using the amazing Christmas Carol Doodle Doll Stamp Set, Christmas Tags Holly Jolly Stamps and Holly Background Stamps. 

 At this time of day our dinner preparations will be well underway, isn't that one of the best parts of Christmas? The dinner with all the trimmings?  

For me Christmas has never been about what is under the tree but more about who is with you, and who you will be spending time with over the festive season. Today it is just hubby, me and Aggie Cat(who will also indulge in a full meat based dinner), though tomorrow will be a lot busier as we are going to our nieces for a Boxing Day Buffet. And we can't wait to spend time with our 16 month old great niece, 2 nieces, sister and brother in law, my nieces partner and his parents. Of course there is always a wee touch of sadness as we remember the people who are not with us, and this year more so for a few of us as it is our first Christmas without a loved one. Light a candle for them and put it on the dinner table, or on the window as they are never far from our thoughts.

I hope you all have a fantastic Christmas Day full of love, laughs and memories!

It's Christmas Eve!

Wow, what a super quick month December has been and super busy for all of us too! Today it's me,Carol, sharing a Christmas make with you all! Rather apt with my name don't you think?

I made this PL Lay Out using the idea of the "12 Days of Christmas", as my PL Page Protector had 12 pockets.  I won't go into full details of everything I did as I would be here until next Christmas lol.

Unusually for me I actually wrote/drew out a wee plan as I knew I was going to be putting a lot of different things in this LO.

Not a very comprehensive plan, but enough to get me started!

As you can see there is rather a lot of different techniques used from heat embossing to Cameo cut outs, die cutting and dry embossing.

All of the papers are from last years December kit, and the stamps are all available here including the adorable Christmas Carol Doodle Doll Stamp Set. All of the Silhouette files I used are available from Sarah's Silhouette Store, the journaling cards are a must have item for us Project Lifers.

I hope you have enjoyed my post today and have a magical Christmas Eve, I will be back tomorrow to share a card and say Merry Christmas.

Sarah Hurley Challenge News!

Hi Everyone

Today I'm popping in to share some news with you, after much thought and consideration, I have decided that after 4 years, this will be our very last monthly challenge.

We've had such fun running the challenges, meeting lots of new people (some of whom became part of my team and all of whom became friends, colleagues and people who's blogs I enjoyed visiting!) My little business has grown beyond my wildest dreams and has done so very very quickly, in that time I have learned a lot about what you are all looking for, what you (and I!) need and how myself and my team can provide that for you. As you know we changed the name of the blog and how we work, a little bit, earlier this year and this will be a continuation of those changes.

We hope you will stick around here on the Sarah Hurley 365 blog as it will be filled with inspiration and projects as well as some exciting new features and areas that my team are currently hard at work on! You'll see a gradual change here between now and the first quarter of 2015 as we implement our new plan and I hope you love what we have in store for you as much as I do!

I'd like to thank every single one of you who has entered a challenge over the last 4 years, I hope you will continue to share your work with us here and over on my Facebook page (we still like to see what you're up to and look for new people for future projects!) and we still want to hear from you so please do leave us comments on our new projects and plans as we go - it will help us to bring you more of what you want! I'd also like to thank the Sarah Hurley Design Team past and present for all of their hard work in making the challenges fun and inspiring, it's been so fun!

I'm so pleased to be ending on a Halloween challenge as it's truly one of my favourite crafting holidays - I can't wait to see what you come up with! (please see the previous post to enter the challenge!)

Buttons galore.

Hello, it's Carol here today and I am going to share my recent make for this months Buttons themed challenge. 

I am loving all the great new Silhouette Files over at Sarah's Silhouette Online Store. And used one of them for this card.

I fancied making a card that could be used for a male (for a change!) and used a piece of paper from one of the A Few of My Favourite Things Kit as the backing layer as it was lovely and neutral(and chevrons, did I mention chevrons?) 

I used the Circle Steampunk Cog Page Mat, which is sized 12x12" but due to the wonders of technology(scale in Silhouette Studio) it can be resized to any size, I picked 5x5" so it would fit onto my 6x6" card blank.

Once the cut was finished, I popped lots of tiny 3d foam squares under it to add dimension, and then added some tiny buttons to it.

I stamped "Curio" from the Curio Stamp set, which will be on Sarah's Shop really soon ;-)

Faith, Trust and Pixie Dust.

Hello, it's Carol here today and I thought I would share something very exciting that is coming to Sarah's Website very very soon!! I will probably get put on the naughty step again for this, but some things are worth the risk ;-)

Sarah has a great range of Special Edition stamps, and I have used a brand new set from the fab Clare Brown to make this card. It is from a set called "Woodland Fairy", and there is also a toadstool in it*squeee*.

I printed up some of Sarah's "Be Mine" digi kit, onto glossy photo paper and it looks amazing, it is so hard to capture it in a picture. Once I had printed that, I chose the colour of the fairy's dress to co-ordinate with it. I added some Stardust Stickles using a nylon paintbrush, so much easier to get that wee bit of sparkle exactly where you want it, in this case on her belt, wings and shoes. I finished off the card by popping some tiny punched flowers in the 4 colours of the card and added some flatback pearls. I layered it up using pearlised silver paper.

Paperclips with a difference.

Hi, it's Carol here today to share some sparkle today.  As some of you will know I have a Cameo machine and I really trying to overcome my "Machine Fear", and what better way to do this by making some great paperclips for my organiser. I have made some other pretty things for it too, but you will see them when our new challenge launches on the 5th of May ;-) 

All of my clips are from Sarah's Portfolio in the Silhouette Store and can be downloaded straight away, ideal if you are impatient like me. I decided to use thick glittery card to cut them out, after all you can never have enough glitter in your life.

I used the following files;

It's almost Easter.

Hi, it's Carol here this Good Friday and I thought I would make something to reflect the time of year it is.

 I was lucky enough to be treated to a Cameo electronic cutting machine a few months ago and I still have the new machine "fear" and realised I really had to use it rather than just download lots of Sarah's yummy files.

I thought I would make a card using one of Sarah's new designs and chose the  Easter Page Mat. When you open in onto your "Drawing Area" it opens as a 12"x12", but that is easily sized down and I will try and explain how I did that.

I wanted to use a 6"x6" card, so decided to make the cut out 5.5", to do this I selected the whole image, clicked on the Scale tool, typed in 5.5" and ticked the lock aspect option.  It resized it perfectly to leave me with this. 

I was feeling confident, so decided I wanted to layer the cut out, and knew I could do it easily using the Offset tool.  I wanted it to just have a nice frame, so chose 0.1" as my Internal Offset. The result was this;

You may be wondering why I am working on the right hand side of the page...this next step will explain that. I clicked on the internal image, and dragged it over to the left of the page. That way I could do the two cuts on one pass through, and use two separate colours of card;

I sent them to the Cameo to cut, then went about picking out matching backing paper and some sparkly bits. Et voila, here is the finished card...taaa daaaah!!
