Silhouette Scrapbook Page.

Hello, it's the first of the month which means it's me (Carol) on the blog today sharing a "Silhouette Series" make.  As tomorrow is World Scrapbooking Day, I decided to make a layout using one of Sarah's Silhouette Store Files.

First select which file you would like to use from Sarah's Silhouette Store.  I chose the Circle Chevron Page Mat, this goes onto your cutting area as a 12x12" mat. I used the resize tool and ticked the "Lock Aspect" box to resize it down to 8"x8".

Remove the chevron circle from your cutting mat, and keep the chevrons that are still on the mat. As you can see I got a bit carried away and made the page without taking step by step pictures, but I think I have pictures of the most important bit and that is resizing your mat.

I used lots of 3D Foam to give the LO lots of dimension.

Thanks for popping by today, we would love to see what you make for World Scrapbooking Day tomorrow!

Have a great Bank Holiday weekend, Carol x

Silhouette Scrapbook Page.

Hello, it's Carol with you today and I am going to share a scrapbook page I made using my Cameo, stamps and a stencil. (As if me scrapbooking wasn't enough of a shock, I tackled stenciling too eek!)

As some of you know, a few of us Team Hurley girls went to the NEC in Birmingham to meet up with Sarah to discuss a lot of exciting new things happening in the very near future...watch this space! We also popped over to the Stitches Show and saw lots of luscious new pretties that are due to hit the shops soon, so start saving lol. One of my favourites were the new Shinhan Touch Pens, and I can't wait to get my grubby wee mitts on some of those, anyway I digress sorry!

One of Sarah's lovely friends Diane took this amazing picture of all of us, and I just had to do a LO with it.

I decided to use my Cameo as Sarah has amazing files in the Silhouette Store that are just perfect for scrapbooking.

Here's how I made my LO.

1  I used the Square Page Mat from the Silhouette Store and cut it out full size on a sheet of DCWV paper.

2 I picked the Team Hurley Corporate Colour of mint green for the base for the mat, and decided to use one of Sarah's Stencils to make my own background. I used my favourite Distress Ink combo of Peacock Feathers and Picked Raspberry.

3 Being a stencil novice, I opted to use Scotch tape(washi would do too) and taped the edges of the stencil to my craft mat, and taped some scrap paper to the edges that were on the base layer.

4  Once I had moved my stencil around the base and covered it in pretty stars I popped my cut out Square Page Mat onto the base.

5 I love using arrows in my LO's and had to use the Hand Drawn Arrow Doodles on my page. I ungrouped the set, deleted the ones I didn't want to use and then resized the arrows using the Scale tool. And extra stars of course and the Doodle Stars are perfect for this. I separated them onto separate sides so I could make two different colours of arrows and stars.

6  And here is the finished LO!

7  And a close up to show the amount of dimension on the page.

Ingredients
Other Bits n Bobs
Stampin Up Bunting Punch
Distress Inks

I hope you like my LO and it inspires you to get a favourite piccie from the box they are in or print one out from your phone and make a special page for it.

Thanks for popping by, remember and look back soon for more inspirational posts from my immensely talented teamies.

Scrapbooking with A Few of My Favourite Things

Hello there, Claireliz here, how are you?

Today I've got a pink and girly scrapbook page to share with you. It's not often I get to do pink and girly even though I have an 8 year old daughter, she is the most ungirly girl, she refuses to wear dresses or anything pretty and will only wear pink if it's hot pink, I cannot imagine where she gets it from... erm, what's that saying.... "like mother, like daughter"

There was a time when she was girly but that was before she started having a say in her wardrobe and luckily enough I had the presence of mind to take this particular photo because it will never happen again....

Here she is aged 5 in her little pink leotard, tutu & wrap cardigan at her ballet lesson with her ballerina doll, oh so sweet, she stopped going to ballet after her first ballet exam as she didn't really enjoy it and they wanted to move her into the next class which was mostly full of tweenagers and teenagers.

As soon as I saw Sarah's Neopolitan A Few of My Favourite Things kit, I knew I was going to scrap this photo, it also gave me the opportunity to use the teeny pink dress embellishment that had been in crafty stash for longer than I can remember.

I ripped the papers into strips and inked the edges with Pumice Stone Distress Ink,which is a great colour for when you want some definition but not as harsh as Black or Brown. I arranged the strips onto the cardstock then ripped a square of the pink paper for the mat behind the photo. Once I'd arranged them on the page there was still something missing so I cut circles out from the Stamp & Stick sheet and cut them in half, I used these to make the scalloped border at the bottom of the page. When I was happy with the layout I stuck everything to the page. I added a strip of ribbon and a string of pearl beads.

The photo is an Instagram print from Printed.com, they are printed on really thick card so they're great for attaching with 3d foam pads as they don't sag of get too squashed in your scrapbook album.

I cut the banners from the Stamp & Stick sheet and attached them to the top of the page and used the little gold feathers as wings behind the dress embellishment. I used Thickers for the title and finally drew a little doodly border around my page.

That's all from me for today, hope to see you soon.

A layout for February

Here's the second of my posts for March and as promised in my earlier post, I've created a layout for my February Project Life album.

My background is the gorgeous soft pink paper from February's A Few of My Favourite Things kit as well as some of the other papers used as a backing for the photo.

I cut and layered a few different patterned papers as well as sneaking in a few journaling cards and cut outs from other kits.
I stamped around where I was going to place the photo with a mixture of mini kit club stamps and the big chevron background stamp.

Also with the February kit came a mini triangles stencil which I used in a couple of places around the page with some texture paste.

I wrote the title with a paint brush and ink and cut it out. I don't normally like my own handwriting but done this way I had much more control over what it looked like and where I placed it.

I just love all the layers.

Have a good week and I'll see you soon.

Sweet & Simple Scrapbooking

Hello there, Claireliz here, how are you?

I love Sarahs AFOMFT monthly kits & I always try to make as many projects from them as possible but inevitably there are always small scraps of pretty patterned papers left over.
This months Neopolitan kit has been my favourite ever so far & I couldn't bear to leave any little bits unused. I came up with a really simple idea to use up all those little pieces of paper & create a simple & sweet layout...

I knew I wanted to use this Instagram photo of a cake that we made a while back... it was delicious. I had one 4 inch x 4 inch piece of paper which I knew would sit behind the photo. I took the paper & photo & positioned them roughly where I wanted them, then I took the small pieces of paper & began to cut lots of little triangles 2cm wide by 3 cm tall, I then paid them on my page in position, at this point I took a photo on my phone to make sure I put them back in the right place. I doodled a border & some lines for the bunting to hang from. When I'd glued all of the triangles down I doodled around them to make them stand out a bit, I also hand stitched 3 little buttons onto the layout where the doodled string hangs from. I drew & cut a frame for the photo from some corrugated card which is stuck to the photo with 3d foam pads. I layered up the pieces of paper I had left, each one being inked with Pumice Stone Distress Ink and attached them to the bottom corner of the page & attached the photo & frame using 3d foam pads, as a final touch I added 3 little gems from  my stash. The title "Say it with Cake" was made from little alpha stickers & some large chipboard glittery letters.

Well that's all from me for today, thanks for stopping by, don't forget you still have time to enter our monthly challenge, you can find the details here.
Take care & hope to see you soon.

Documented 365 - Goals

Well Hello there & welcome to Sarah Hurley 365, Claireliz here, how are you?

I'm going to attempt Documented 365 this year, I've decided to use a mix of page layouts including normal 12x12, then 2 different sets of pages protectors with 3x4 & 4x6 pockets. I've never used pockety type page protectors before so it'll be interesting adapting my scrapping style to suit them.

I'm  the sort of scrapbooker that if I'm making an album on a particular theme, project or class then I feel it needs an intro page, it's part of the story after all.

So this the page that I'm using as my intro page and it records my goals for 2014 &  the plan is to check in with them every now & then & see how I'm getting on.

I knew I wanted this to be a bright colourful layout & I wanted some glittery sparkle too.
I started by splattering yellow, hot pink, aqua & lime green spray ink onto the white cardstock, then I doodled a loopy border around the edge.
I cut a frame from the pink polka dot paper and an arrow from the turquoise chevron paper both from Sarah's My Favourite Things Kit & inked them both around the edges with Black Soot Distress ink.

I used a little spotty envelope from the kit for my journaling which is written on a tag & lists my goals for 2014. I'm careful when choosing my goals,I always make sure that a couple of them are easily attainable that way if I don't achieve any of the others I don't feel guilty about it. Some of my goals for this year are: Save money, Take more photos, Blog more often and Create more, these are actually quite easy, but they are still things I need to do. Slightly harder ones are Work on our home - which depends on our finances. And improve my cooking - which will take a lot of work on my part and possibly a bit of effort for DD & Hubs if they are going to survive my culinary learning curve - okay you can stop laughing now :D The envelope was attached to the page under the pink frame which is attached with 3D foam pads.

To sparkle up my title I sprayed some DIY Thickers with gold shimmer ink then coated in gold glitter glue, but you can do this with most styles of Thickers using either spray ink or paint to change the colour, it's one of my favourite techniques.

I felt it still needed a bit more so I dotted some orange, yellow, blue, pink and green buttons all over the layout & a little strip of washi tape under the 2014. I was just packing everything away when I found a little bag of stars inbetween the papers and decided to stick those around the page in amongst the buttons.

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you enjoyed my layout & I'm looking forward to seeing all of your Documented 365 pages this year.
Take care
C xx
