Scraps and Doodles

Good morning, everyone, it's Susie here and I have a collection of scraps and doodle stamps to show you.  Are you sitting comfortably?  Then we shall begin!!

I had a collection of scraps from Sarah's Dotty Papers and Watercolour Love collections and LOVE the combination of turquoise and grey together.  3 strips of the paper were mounted onto silver card to make a panel for my card.

Then, I used the triangle stencil, a grey promarker and a silver pen to add a background panel directly to the right hand side of my card blank.  After removing the stencil, I added some definition to the triangles with a thin black pen.

I stamped one of the Doodle Home house stamps and a tree in black ink onto scrap white card and cut them out - lovely easy shapes for cutting out.  They were then mounted onto a square of Watercolour Love paper (which reflected the triangles on the background) and silver card:

I added a turquoise heart and some Stardust Stickles as roof tile detail to the house.

After the scrap and stamped panels were stuck to the card, I stamped the sentiment and added further definition to the letters with my super thin pen.  A final round of Stardust Stickles was added to the edges of the stamped panel and one edge of each triangle in the background.  

Et voilà, the card is complete and lots of stamping, scrappy and stencil fun has been had!!!

A Pocketful of Memories

Good morning, it's Susie here today.  Since becoming part of the Sarah Hurley team, I have found myself creating more scrap layouts, which is brilliant as I rarely made time for scrapbooking previously.  Today's layout is a collection of photos and memorabilia from my bairns' dance show earlier this month. 

After seeing Louise's green retro tap outfit, I decided that the green 12" square card, from one of Sarah's A Few of My Favourite Things kits, would be a great base.  (It also co-ordinates wonderfully with my last layout!).  I thought that the star card would be a great addition for my "little stars" and I loved the little journal cards and camera, also from A Few of My Favourite Things kits.  

I roughly laid the cards in position and decided that a bling studded banner would be great as the title.  ("Born  2 Dance" was the name of the show, by the way.) I sketched the rounded "rope" for the banner and placed the banner stamps to get the rough spacing.  

I then stamped the banners (from Garden Fairy, by Clare Brown) using Sahara Sand ink.  After letting it dry, I rubbed out my pencil line and stamped the letters, before drawing the "rope" back with pen and gluing the gems in place.  

 Louise felt great in this green shift dress and her wig, so the sentiment of "looking good feeling wonderful" was perfect.  The "Be Amazing" sentiment is from the Be Amazing Girl Stamp set and "Shine" is from Sid the Robot, by Clare Brown.

I ended up having more photos printed and wanted to keep other items like the tickets and running order, so I decided I would make a little pocket.  I had an orange C6 envelope, but it was a little too large for my layout, so I cut the edges to fit.  I then decided that the star card would look better than the full bright orange of the envelope, so added that to the front of the envelope and used the envelope shape to cut the top of the panel.  The panel was stuck to the envelope back - narrower  double sided tape would have been better than this 10mm one.  A tiny bit of velcro and some decorative button and gems completed the pocket, so that none of my bits get lost, but they can easily be removed to look at.

Dream A Little Dream

I hope you are all well and haven't been blown away in this wild weather! Today, it is my (Susie) turn to show you a little something and I decided that I fancied stamping one of the lovely Doodle Dolls. This one is called Dream a Little Dream and is lovely and easy to colour. I stamped her onto Kraft card (aka the inside of my Christmas wrapping paper!) and coloured her with my Polychromo pencils. After shading and colouring her face, I stamped her beautiful big eyes and added a little more shading for her nose and her eyebrows. After that, I decided I would give her a little smile.....must have been feeling brave, huh?!

As is pretty normal for me, I kept the layout really simple to show off the gorgeous teal/turquoise paper and image. (Have I ever told you that my favourite colour is teal/turquoise?!!). The papers, heart and turquoise gems are from various A Few of My Favourite Things kits. I decided to add a little doodling and Stardust Stickles to finish off my card.

Documented December - THE BIG DAY!

Hi Everyone

I just wanted to take this opportunity to wish you a MASSIVE Happy Christmas from everyone at Hurley HQ!

I'd also like to thank my fabulous team for their inspiration throughout December - they've come up with so many fantastic projects, it's amazing!

Happy Cake Day!

Hello, it's Carol here today and Happy Sunday to all of you.

Today I am going to share a card that I made for my card box.  It's always handy to have a pile of cards for those birthdays that creep up on you when your mojo is on holiday.

I used a brand new set of stamps that Sarah will be releasing in her lovely Online Shop soon, and Block Alpha and Outline Alpha Stamps to create the card. The background paper is from a previous AFOMFT kit.

I stamped instagram frames onto white card, then stamped the images inside. I coloured with Promarkers and with the fab wee White Photo Corners that Sarah has in her shop I co-ordinated them to match the colours of my images with the same colours of Promarkers. 

I stamped out "Happy Cake Day" in black ink and used the Block Alpha Stamps in different colours to match.

I added some bakers twine and a cute cupcake charm to finish off the card.

In Stitches with a Voodoo Doll stamp.

Hi, it's Carol here today, and I am going to share my DT creation for this months  "Stitching - Real or Faux" Challenge.

I made a "Spell Book" using pretties from this month's AFOMFT Printable Documented 365 kit , the adorable Voodoo Doll Thinking of You Stamp and Block Alpha Stamps .

I printed out the "Doodles" card from the kit and coloured it in using Promarkers and Flexmarkers. I chose warm "dark" colours rather than bright ones, as I felt it went better with a Spell Book. I also printed out the Skull & Crossbones & the Yellow Skull & Crossbones card, to layer up and pop onto the doodle page. I stamped Spells onto the yellow card. I stamped the Voodoo Doll onto white card and coloured him in, added some faux stitching and popped him onto foam padding for some dimension. I layered the Doodle sheet onto a piece of navy card, and added some white faux stitches using a chalk pen. I am naughty, as I keep forgetting to take pictures as I go. I will do this next time, promise!

Time to try digital scrapbooking.

Hello, it's Carol here and it's my turn to share a creation with you. Today I will be sharing a digital scrapbooking layout page using Sarah's Be Mine Digital Kit. I decided to use a picture of our cat Aggie, her Sunday name is Agatha, and our surname is Christie so the typewriter in this kit is just perfect for  what I had in mind.

I used Digital Designer, but you can use Serif or any other software you are comfortable using. I chose to make the Lay Out 8x8 and used the Bubbles paper as my base, the colours in the kit all match perfectly and can be mixed and matched and that is really what I wanted to show with this page.

The kit has loads of awesome journalling cards that can be used for lots of different things from Project Life to notecards. I layered up a couple of those then popped Aggie's picture onto them, I added some teal striped washi tape to make it look like the piccie was stuck down. I thought the typewriter was perfect considering Aggie's name, and added a wee story onto the paper coming out of it.

I popped a cloud embellishment on, and some of the cute paper planes to add some extra prettiness to the page. And I love the heart border and couldn't resist it, I think it finishes the page of perfectly.

Hello and happy Saturday, it's Carol here with my showcase post. And this time I decided to play some more with my Cameo using some of Sarah's designs from the Silhouette Store.  There are lots of great designs to choose from, and the Valentines Day ones are just adorable.

I thought a "treat wheel" would be a different idea for a Valentines card, though it could easily be used for any occasion, or just when you think someone needs a wee treat.  I used the Heart Viewfinder as the main focus for my card and cut it out in two different colours to layer it up. I printed out a journalling card from the Oz Digi Kit and used it as my treat guide.  I thought mini love heart buttons would be a cute way of marking the wheel, and I used the Heart Arrow as my spinner, and added a love heart brad to it.  For the background I used pink chevron paper from Book Worm Digi Kit and printed it onto glossy photo paper to make is super shiny.  The Set of 3 Swag Heart Banners are so pretty that I used them as a background embellishment, though I only used two of them and pinned them down with the heart cut outs from the viewfinder.

I hope this inspires you to try something different this Valentines Day, or just surprise someone with a treat wheel card.

Butterflies Stamps Shrink Plastic Charm bracelet

Good morning everyone, hope you are well :-) Its Elaine here with my inspiration piece for you today.
I decided to share with you a make using one of my favourite mediums for crafting which you can use to create lots of different looks and for lots of different kinds of crafts! Its a great way for using your existing stamps in a new way too :-)
What youll need to create something like my project is Shrink plastic, stamps (I used Sarah's butterfly rubber stamps here), Stazon ink pad, hole punch, scissors, glittered gel pens, jump rings, bead spacers, tiger tail, crimps, toggle clasps and basic jewellery tools.
First of all youll create your shrink plastic charms. Choose your stamp and ink up with Stazon. Stamp onto the rough side of the shrink plastic. Next colour your butterflies should you choose to do so (you can see I left one uncoloured on the end to show the look without colour) I find glittered gel pens work the best with this, but do be careful not to smudge the ink as it dries.
Cut around your butterfly but leave a border around the top to punch before you cut all the way round. Punch in the centre, then cut carefully around this hole, leaving enough plastic to keep this intact.
Follow the shrinking instructions on your shrink plastic, then place in a heavy book when warm to make sure they dry flat.
Take your finished charms and your jewellery kit and add jump rings to the holes. I added two jump rings on each charm to give a good swing from my bracelet. I then created a design for my bracelet using Rose Quartz, pearls and bead spacers with butterfly charms placed equally between this design. Finish with your clasp.
You can always use shrink plastic to make your own embellishments for cards, scrapbook pages-anything you can think of! You could even use without a hole and stick it directly onto a project with strong glue.

Fan-tashe-tic Inspiration.

Hello and welcome to the first of the new Design Team inspiration posts.  For my post I decided to use something from Sarah's range that I think is fan-tashe-tic, yip you guessed it - moustaches! I mean what is not to love about them? And the fact that they are so on-trend at the minute is only feeding my addiction.

I thought I would demonstrate how well Sarah's products work together to compliment each other and that you don't just need to stamp or use digi kits to create a great card. I know some people, including me, get nervous using hybrid crafting so here is an ideal way to have a play with your printer, stamps and if you have one, an electronic cutting machine.

I saw the moustaches in the Silhouette Store and thought I would make a card with a bookmark that can be kept and reused. I used the Moustache Paper Clips, using only the rectangular one and made it larger so it can be noticed in a book.  Whilst I was browsing I saw the Gentleman's Accessories and thought they would be great toppers for the card.  For my main background paper I used the Steampunk Kit as there are amazing digi papers and toppers in the kit, that's where my sentiment came from too. I printed it onto glossy photo paper and it looks even better in real life. I also used the brand new Moustache Background Stamp and I know I will be using it a lot more too.

 I wanted to show you the bookmard off the card, to illustrate that the card can still look awesome and the bookmark can be used as a wee gift for the card recipient to keep.

Challenge 62 - Steampunk

Hi there, Claireliz here with this weeks challenge.

The theme for this week is:

Steampunk

I used Sarah's Steampunk CD & the Gadget Gears Alterations die to decorate this little printers tray. The cogs are cut from chipboard & the Steampunk papers.

Inside the tray I've used the Steampunk papers & lots of little embellishments

The pocket watch on the back is coloured in with Promarkers & mounted on a chipboard circle.
