Its Ria here today.

I love clean and simple cards. What makes me more happy is that even with minimal supplies, you can create simple yet will hopefully makes someone happy too to receive.

And here's my basic supply.. not in photo are random patterned papers from Sarah's kits.
Note that you can use whatever you have on hand.

I stamped the heart in two colors, alternatively stamping the two colors on white cardstock.
I want the stamped heart as my focal point so I chose brighter colors of ink than my paper colors.

For my background, I embossed them using my embossing folder while my patterned papers were die cut with square and rectangle shapes.

You can make use those small stamp shapes in your stamp sets to decorate a simple cut shape. It would also be great  to create your own background.

For now, I used stamping to highlight the heart stamp as my main card design.

Clean & Simple…for a Man!

Morning all. I’m in a real Christmas card making phase at the moment as I love to get them made ahead of time but I also like to keep my stash of birthday cards topped up, so that is what I have made to show you today.

I have had a few family members in need of last minute masculine cards so I let them pick from my stash, but I needed to make a few more to replace them. I turned to some of Sarah’s lovely bright and bold 12x12 paper and sentiment stamps to create a CAS card.

Supplies:

• A Few of My Favourite Things Kit 
• Sentiments Stamp Set 
• Archival Jet Black Inkpad
• Memento Cottage Ivy Inkpad
• Glitter Glue
• Double Sided Tape and Foam Pads

Step by Step:

1. Cut a piece of patterned paper slightly narrower than your card and fix to the card with foam pads.
2. Cut a piece of smooth white stamping card 2cm narrower than the patterned paper. Stamp 4 sentiments using green in the middle of the card and stamp Happy Birthday using black ink just below.
3. Stamp three stars using green ink in the top left corner and repeat in the bottom right. Fix to the centre of the card using double sided tape.
4. Decorate the stars with glitter glue.

Make a Wish!

Happy Tuesday everyone! It's Ria here today sharing another card project :)

I have a number of embellishment from Sarah and decided to make use a combination of them for a card project.

I cut strips of patterned papers for my background, just enough to bring  colors in my white card base. I then added another patterned paper to put the main embellishments - the felt flower and butterfly as my focal point.

To add some color, I stamped the leaves and fussy cut them, then tucked it behind the felt.
The rest of the flowers were arranged randomly around the card.

Very easy to do which I think can be reproduced easily.

The Sun has got his hat on…

Hip hip hip hooray!

Morning all! If you are in the UK I hope you are enjoying all this hot weather we have been having. I am, as the kids and I have been outside playing and tending to our vegetable plants…but it sure has put a stop to any crafting.

Talking of the Sunshine our theme for this months challenge is Summer Brights. I thought I would show that you don’t need to cut into a precious 12x12 page to make a card this one uses a couple of journaling cards to make the background:

Lemon Butterflies

Morning All. It's Lisa here today and I have made a birthday card using the April A Few of My Favourite Things kit.

A little while back I was lucky enough to play with some cork sheets for a magazine commission, it was fabulous and really versatile, so I was more than a little bit excited to see some in the kit. Here I have used it to stamp and colour on...

I love the texture the cork adds to CAS layout.

The butterfly was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured with ProMarkers.

Using stamps to get a mirror image

Hi It's Tania here with my second spotlight of the month.

 Today I will use stamps from the March A few of my Favourite things kit of the month and show you how to get a reverse image from one stamp

Here is my finished card where I have 2 little birds on a hand drawn branch. For the sentiments I have used Sarah's Sentiment stamps 

I first inked my stamp with distress ink (This does not dry as quick as other inks) and

stamped it onto a ink blending mat.

 Then you transfer the image onto your card by putting the card over the image and pressing hard.

If necessary you can go over the image to make it look crisper,

 I then stamped my normal image and you then have 2 birds.

I then drew a branch and tree adding leaves using a leaf stamp from this months stamp kit. I coloured the tree in caramel and the leaves in leaf green and the tree in meadow green Promarkers.

I have made the card for my husband for our Anniversary in July.

Elegant Birthday

I have been having a little play with last months A Few of My Favourite Things Kit. My usual style is quite cutesy so I thought I would aim for an elegant card...

I've also used some ribbon and pearls from my stash and some embellishment left over from previous kits.

Clean & Simple

Hi Folk's it's Tania here with my DT spot.

Today I have a very clean & simple card I have used 2 stamps and a few  promarkers

(opps forgot to write down the colours) and some gold liquid pearls and thats about it.

I have used a sentiment and flower from

Firstly I stamped the flower image on the card blank  and coloured with Promarkers, I then stamped the flower twice more and coloured and fussy cut them out so I could decoupage them. I then added it to the flower with a 3d pad. I also added glossy accents to the bow.  

 To finish the card off I added the the sentiment and finished it off with gold liquid pearls.

This card would be suitable when somone is ill , or you are worried about them.

Special Day card

Happy Friday everyone! It's Ria here.

I'm sharing a card project today using a combination of Sarah's A Few of My Favorite Things kit.
I intend to do a masculine card and was considering one to give to my Dad who's birthday is coming up this month.

Back then when iPads and LED tv's are not yet invented, we used to prepare our school reports using the manual typewriter and watch with good old CRT TV monitor. I still remember how we move those antennas to get a better signal :)    

Well I think Dad will bring back those memories when he gets this graphic card.

I used AFOMFT Curio kit for my card elements. Apparently, I also love fuzzy cutting. The papers and tag are from the AFOMFT City Gent kit while the sentiment is from the Sentiments stamp set.

A closer look at the things that used to work for us back in the days.  I think we still have the typewriter hidden somewhere in our home. My mom will not let something like that we used to love be given away ;)

Clean & Simple Chevrons

Hi it's Lisa here and I've been playing with the 12x12 papers from January's A Few of My Favourite Things Kit.

Now don't get me wrong...I Love Love Love Sarah's papers but now they are 12x12 I sometimes struggle to get the larger patterns to work on a card as I usually make 6x6 cards or smaller! One option would be to take a little look at Sarah's fabulous selection of Digi Kit/Papers, as they can easily be reduced to a 6x6 format and the pattern shrinks too. However, I wanted to challenge myself to make a card using the largest pattern from the January Kit and make it work on a C6 card (10.5cm x 14cm).

Here is my card using Sentiments Stamps and the Black and White Chevron Paper:

CAS Birthday Card

Here's what you'll need:

• A Few of My Favourite Things January Kit
• Sentiments Stamps
• Various grey, blue and black inkpads
• C6 white card blank
• White Card
• Star Punch
• Glitter Glue

Step by Step:

1. Take an 8cm by 14cm piece of white card, mask the top third and stamp the remainder with various stamps from the Sentiments Stamp set. Remove mask and leave to dry.
2. Attach this to two strips of the Black and White Chevron Paper and attach to the card blank using foam pads.
3. Punch a star from some blue card. I used one of the journalling cards from January's kit, it has a heart pattern so I punch around a heart. Attach it using a foam dot and add some glitter glue to the heart.

Me & You card

Hello there everyone!  It's Ria here and I'm sharing another card project using a combination of different papers from Sarah Hurley.

First off is selecting random papers that complements each other. For this card, I used a selection from A Few of my Favorite Things Caught on Camera (this is one of my most loved kit plus stamps) and another from the 8x8 Paper collection. I also got another paper from the Curio collection.

I played around these papers and die cut them too for some fun shapes. The hexagon shapes somewhat mimics a quilt so using different papers is like choosing different fabrics too don't you think?

I embossed the sentiment from the Sentiments stamps with white embossing powder, and I also embossed the couple from the Expedition stamp set. What I love about stamping and card-making in general is I can mix and match stamps and papers from different collections without limits.

A closer look of the embossing, the silver sequin is also part of the Sarah's kit.

Faux Letterpress Background

Hi it's Lisa here and I've been playing about with the Chevron Stripe Mask again.

This is another way to create a textured background using both heat and dry embossing and is a sort of Faux Letterpress technique...

Completed Card

Here's what you'll need:

• Chevron Stripe Mask
• Sentiments Stamps
• Gold, Red and Black Inkpad
• Clear Sparkle and Red Sparkle Embossing Powder
• Viva Decor Pearl Pen
• Kraft and Red Card
• Die Cutting Machine

Step by Step:

1. Ink the mask with gold ink, making sure it is completely covered. Take a 14cm square piece of white card and place carefully onto the mask, securing with some low tack tape. Run through your die cutting machine to emboss and print the ink. I used a Cuttlebug and the sandwich was as follows A plate, B plate, mask, card, embossing mat, 2 card shims and a B plate. Carefully remove the mask. Cover with clear sparkle embossing powder and heat emboss. Mat onto red card and fix to your card base.
2. Take a strip of white card and stamp a border using the heart stamp (from Sentiments Stamps). Trim leaving a small white border, mat onto Kraft card and fix to the card blank and 
3. Create a fishtail on a strip of white card. Mat onto red card and fix to the card blank. Stamp the 'I Love You' (from Sentiments Stamps) onto Kraft card. Tear ends and fix to card.
4. Decorate with pearls.

Embossed Background

Hi it's Lisa here with my first inspiration post on the new look blog.

We have already shown you a couple of posts on ways to create texture using masks, one from Jaine here and one from Jess here. I wanted to try and show that you don't always need to get messy (although sometimes that is fun!) to create a cool background.

Completed Card

Here's what you'll need:

• Chevron Stripe Mask
• Sentiments Stamps
• Yellow, Orange and Black Inkpads
• Stickles Glitter Glue and Viva Decor Pearl Pen
• White and Orange Card
• Die Cutting Machine

Step by Step:

1. Take a 14cm square of white card and place onto the mask, securing with some low tack tape. Run through your die cutting machine to emboss. I used a Cuttlebug and the sandwich was as follows A plate, B plate, mask, card, embossing mat, 2 card shims and a B plate.
2. With the mask still in place use a stencil brush to apply the ink. Remove the mask and mat onto orange card. Fix to your card base.
3. Take a strip of white card and stamp with various sentiment stamps. Mat on orange card and fix to the card base.
4. Stamp 'Surprise' onto a thin strip of white card and trim ends into fishtails (I used a square punch for this). Fix to card base using 3D foam pads.
5. Decorate with pearls and glitter glue.

I'm not sure that the camera has truly picked up the texture but it looks lovely in real life and makes you want to stroke it (sad as that sounds!).
